Missing school to go test out some horses? Sounds like a pretty good way to end the week :)

Saku Koivu lets the former Montreal management how he really feels.
They basically did cut him off after all that he did for the club. Was the first European-born/Finnish-born captain, served as captain for 10 years, and beat cancer, among other accomplishments.
Well done, Montreal, well done.
what really pisses me off in this is… what did koivu bring to montreal
sweet fuck all
in terms of hockey we agree
i mean, it’s great he beat cancer, paid for a machine to cure it for children, served 10 years with us but…
he wasn’t that much of a good player lets face it.
When Kovalev was also there, both were acting like big babies and playing like asses because the other was there and didnt want to be somewhere else than first line.
because of him we lost players like Mike Ribeiro (I’d sure as hell take him back any day)
so no.
Koivu is no hockey hero. stop with it. he did nothing here.
I can go even farther and say he didn’t spoke a fucking single word of French after 10 years in a French city so.
Do you even watch Hockey?
Do you have any idea what he had to work with during his whole tenure in Montreal? He was his own man out there. He gave %100 every night, his points per game ratio was amazing. He may have been a play maker who needed great protection, but he can still stand up and play against with the biggest guys.
He joined the Montreal Canadiens just as they were going into shambles, with a GM who’s only experience was running a brewery, an very incompetent coach and a team president who’s idea of a successful franchise was one who can win 5 cups in a row with a 25+ team league.
You would take back Mike Rebiero? I would take Patrick Roy, Eric Desjardins, Jon Leclair and Stephan Robidas over that pretty boy wannabe Rebiero any day. Especially Saku Koivu.
How’s Brian Gionta’s French? Is it any better than Gomez’s? Koivu is fluent in Finnish, Swedish and English. With a family to take care of, a community to represent and a Hockey team to lead, I think he’s had enough on his plate. Maybe he can learn enough to tell the media and the greedy politicians who want to be in the spotlight to “go chase a car” or something, but he hasn’t and he’s shown a lot of patience and class which was what us true Habs fans loved him for.
Serge Savard’s once said; ”The team is in the culture of the people around here. People identified with our club and it doesn’t have anything to do with language.”
His greatest accomplishment was still being able to play hockey and score 70+ points after a bout with cancer. I faced it myself and I took over six months to recover after beating it and let me tell ya: It wasn’t easy. What Koivu was able to do within four months to be apart of something that we would never have the strength or guts to do in our lifetime was miraculous !
The time he took to meet people not just with cancer, but in hospitals with all kinds of diseases and injuries to motivate them is awesome. As well as raising millions of dollars to bring PET scans in Montreal, that’s unforgettable.
I doubt that the Canadiens organization will fail to retire his jersey any time soon, or recognize him in any way. I hope the city of Montreal will, for his efforts off the ice.
What we admire of him the most, he always had the option to leave and sign for another team. A chance to have a real shot at success, but he choose to stay, because he was loyal.
I like this guy
This man is killing me.
nick lidstrom is the people’s hockey player, he’s not loved by only red wings fans, but by fans from each and every other nhl team. i’ve never heard anyone say they don’t absolutely respect lidstrom and i probably never will. it’s a tremendous loss to lose someone like that.
